Details, additional explanations and FAQs below.
The nuts Hexlox HexNut can be used alone, without insert, to replace the original nuts.
To loosen and release the wheels, a simple BTR key (also known as Allen key or 6-part key) is enough.

For more safety, it is of course recommended to equip them with a anti-theft insert for bicycle screws Hexlox.
The size of this insert is 6 mm. One insert is enough to secure a bolt. Only one anti-theft bolt Hexlox enough to secure your wheel.

Operation of the anti-theft system for bicycle screws Hexlox :
The system is based on two mechanisms.
The insert is maintained in its location via a powerful neodymium magnet. The host screw must therefore be magnetic. Aluminium, stainless steel or titanium screws are in fact not compatible.
Then a key with your own coding is needed to remove the insert once installed.
However, the interface between the key and the insert is not solely due to magnetism. Interaction is primarily mechanical. The insert is shielded electromagnetically and its polarity has been adjusted to make its extraction possible only with the right key.
It is therefore impossible to remove the insert without the coded key, even with a very powerful magnet, for example.
